Need help with Bell TV (and HDD)

randomperson89

Hello!

I currently own a Bell (Satelite) TV receiver (Model 9421), and recently, the internal HDD has failed and I went to purchase an external HDD to fix it (or I could spend $500 CAD for another receiver but nah).

If you want to know, the minimum requirements for external drives are:

  • 7200RPM HDD
  • 50GB to 2TB
  • Only 1 drive at a time
  • External power
  • No sleep mode

What I did was I bought a 1TB Seagate HDD (ST1000DM010) and a SATA III to USB 3.0 connector (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B016JTH8FA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_Bp1kAb3ZTT6QP)

Connecting to the Bell receiver did nothing. It would format the drive, then it would give me an error saying "There are multiple USB drives connected. Only one is supported". I tried formatting the drive on my PC and using the connector, and it worked perfectly fine. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Calling Bell did nothing, as they said "You're on your own. You can try fixing something and break things, or you can buy another receiver for $500"
