What part on my PC needs an upgrade ? Planet Coaster is getting laggy Bugger

loony979

So im really getting into Planet Coaster now and it's getting quite a bit laggy

I play it on 1080p 60 Hz and that's what i got. So im wondering could it be my GPU

that's not keeping up or my cpu ?

So my specs are :

7600k - Oc~d - 5ghz

Gtx 970 G1 Bios hacked Oc~d

24gb of Ram 2133 Mhz 2x4gb - 2x8gb.

Win~10 - Home 64 Bit

Need anymore Specs Ask.

Should i install it on my SSD ?

i did try lowering all settings

All other games work rather well.

im thinking i would be 1 of 2 things the cpu is slow or the Gpu witch has only 3.5gb's.

Let me know your thoughts thanks In Advance. Cheers.

Maybe turn off vsync and reinstall drivers?

Haven't heard of the game but I don't think it's THIS demanding.

Cpu is fine anyways.

Be careful you're not being fooled by "false lag".  I've noticed this game behaving strangely, where it will run totally fine (60 fps) but then randomly drop down to 20 - 30, seemingly for no reason, and as far as I can tell, it's not caused by anything specific... no lighting, no coaster or object, or graphics settings etc.

My point is it's important to make the distinction between it running smoothly with random drops and never running smoothly, because if it can hit those high framerates ever, it should be able to do it always and if it's not it's not a hardware limitation.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

it can be caused by:

High people amount in the park Above 3K

Loads of items/Buildings/Blueprints

High cpu/gpu usage

Your hardware is totally fine. 1080p 60 Hz should be a breeze. I've never played that game though, it could just be buggy or the game could be far more resource intensive than I'm imagining (lower settings would counter that). Heck if your hardware pumps frames faster than your monitor refreshes you could just be seeing screen tearing and think its lag. If you're dying for an upgrade, a monitor with a higher refresh rate should be the way to go.

There's no way for me to tell unless I saw the issue in person. Maybe you keep a lot of background programs loaded? That normally shouldn't be an issue unless the background program utilizes a lot of CPU resources.
