PSU fan periodically stopping - how big of an issue?

Title. Should i buy a new PSU ASAP?  Should i stop using my pc altogether until I do? I'm not planning on changing the fan as I don't want to risk anything. I don't have the warranty papers but it's a 2-3 year old PSU.

Here's a video showing the problem in action

What PSU is it?
What components?
Pls make picture of the PSU label and upload it to this forum.

You also might want to make a picture of the PSU connectors on the motherboard, if possible with the connectors.

The fan seems to die soon so you should replace the PSU as soon as possible.

That's just filthy video. Everything looks filthy here ...

I would buy new one and clean your PC once in a while please.

You don't expect me to open up my PSU to clean it, do you? But thanks regardless.

You can blow compressed air inside without opening.

This doesn't even look like a standard ATX PSU. I don't know what it is. Judging by the amount of dust I assume it's old. I'd replace it. (The whole PSU)

I'm running with a r9 380 and i5 7600k at stock.

Connectors are fine. Unable to take pic atm

NO need to, its a 08/15 standard ATX PSU from FSP.

So it should be rather easy to replace it with another PSU.

How much do you want to spend on a new one?
Where can you buy your computer stuff?

From arvutitark.ee and 1a.ee only. I plan on spending 60-70 bucks. There's a seasonic m12ii 620 on sale for 65 atm, and i could pick it up within the next 2 hours. should i jump on it? Everything else seems to be not good in that pricerange, maybe with the exception of the xfx ts bronze. This is according to the psu list anyway

Ask some of the guys in this thread about your options.

Its one of the worst units for that price you could get at the moment...

Well, nothing can be done right now, can it??

Not as much as before and it's still not literally the worst thing you can get.  If you can return it, do so, if not you can still use it.  It will be safer than your old one :P

Just replace the fan. Most PSUs have a pretty standard DC 2-pin 120mm fan, although more modern ones 3-pin maybe. They are almost always a plug and not soldered. Buy a cheap one off aliexpress or the ebay.

[EDIT]

Only do this when you have turned it on for 7 seconds at least while disconnected from power.

I've done this with it turned on once and I touched the heatsink :) Needless to say it was a fun experience, however I live in a 240V country where it is much safer than the USA.

Only if something goes horribly wrong because those cheap Seasonics lack Protection...

The old one wasn't that bad and probably better protected than the S12II he has right now.

FSP isn't any worse than Seasonic...

It's an m12ii evo, also they're both really dated, with the fsp one being older even, i think

I do agree but the one in OP's machine is clearly worn through.

Doesn't mater if we are talking about 620W and lower. They are all equally bad and about the same.

The 750W would have been decent though.

Buy a new psu and take apart your entire computer to do a deep cleaning with compressed air or the exhaust side of a vaccum. It probobly needs it.

Build:

Intel Core I7 6700k (clocked to 4.6ghz)

Patriot Viper 3000mhz ddr4

ASUS maximus 8 hero (I hate this mobo)

Evga gtx 1080 superclocked

250GB Samsung 850 evo

2tb WD Black 7200rpm

Ek watercooling kit a240g with 360 expansion pack

Primochill Vue Red fluid

Corsair Graphite 600t (white)

You thought "Gee, Donald Trump sure has a great build!"
