Just had a few questions about my plans for a gaming PC.

Memory G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $50.99

Video Card XFX Radeon HD 7850 2GB $189.99

Case Cougar Solution (Black) ATX Mid Tower $39.99

Power Supply Corsair 600W ATX12V $69.55

Optical Drive Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer $17.99

Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) $99.99

Monitor:I'll be using a 120Hz monitor at 1920x1080.

Location: Canada

Budget: $ 700-800

  • Will the motherboard I've chosen allow me to at least use the 4.1Ghz turbo the FX-6300 offers? (I am adding an aftermarket cooler down the road.)
  • Will the 600W PSU be enough to support the system when I OC?
  • Will the 7850 keep up with modern games at 1080p, or should I get an 7870?

Get a 500w psu and try and shoot for the 7870: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-fx787acdfc

It'll probably add $10-$20 to the build but will be worth it for sure ;)

You could also try and pick up a powercolor hd7870 myst as it is based on the tahiti architecture.
