Just got a Sidewinder Force Feedback Joystick. How do I clean it?

Hello, how are you?

Today I am very happy. 
I got a Force Feedback 2 USB joystick.
It is on great condition, no dents, scratches or any marks and works great!
I can't wait to get back to X-wing alliance and freespace 2.
But because the joystick wasn't used in many years, it is a bit dirty. Mainly on the joints and such. 
I was thinking about using alcohol and some cuetips to get the dirt out, but I don't know of alcohol would hurt the plastic. 

Any suggestions on the best way to clean this?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

 

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

I would just use plain water, maybe with some dish soap. Of course look out for keeping water on electronics.

Also, some joints may have some lube material, to make them actually move properly.
