Any 1080 ti's better than the EVGA SC 2?

IamODIN

Some sources listed the EVGA 1080 tiSC 2 as the best version of all the 1080 ti's

because of price, performance and cooling.

is there any graphics card type that you believe that is 'as good' or "better"  than the 1080 ti SC 2?

with the same cooling, performance and price of SC 2

Better is far too subjective to need and desire, one could assume the KingPin and HOF are the only ones worthier of being called better, others that like hybrid cards might point out to the Poseidon or Corsair Hydro... and old school savvy will get a Founders Edition with water blocks...

Trying to keep this simple the SC2 is a fine card that will perform greatly, then again any 1080 Ti (aside the MSi Aero and Armor) performans terrifically already, blower style, open air style, hybird style or water cooled style, hardly matters performance wise as they are all within error margins being cooling noise the only differential being frank.

It's hard to beat EVGA's customer service... In terms of value for money, the card that comes next will be the FTW3, but the extra cooling isnt needed unless you overclock a lot and still want the card to be quiet.

So then look no other way and keep my eyes on the SC 2? because the kingpins and others are too expensive for me

It would be better to quote the sources you mention.

2 YouTube reviewers I trust for this kind of thing are Gamers Nexus and OC3D. Check out their channels before you buy because I would say that card is not the best all round. But then it really depends on availability and pricing in your region.

Pretty much it, if this card fits your budget like a glove go for it, you'll be very well covered by EVGA's warranty which is a lovely bonus.

As others have said, there really is no best. Most will perform out of the box and after OC within spitting distance of each other. So that leaves noise and cooling, for which I would recommend Strix, MSI gaming X and MSI Trio. Unless you are going hybrid of course.

There is no doubt that the best 1080 ti is NOT the SC2.

The FTW3, FTW3 hybrid, SC2 hybrid, and kingpin are all, without any doubts, better than the SC2 in basically every way except cost.

If you look at pure cooling performance then there are loads of 1080 tis that are better (strix, hor, Lightning, gaming x, Aorus I think, etc.)

Whoever thought that the SC2 is the best 1080 ti and is writing a publication... you shouldn't be reading their articles is all I'm gonna say.

If you're talking from a performance standpoint, right now I would say no. On PCPP you can get a strix 1080 ti for the same price which is way better when it comes to cooling.

I'm looking at US PCPP right now and the SC2 is only $1 cheaper than the strix.

Yes, I know the strix has a lower clock speed. The thing is, with 1080 tis they all OC very similarily. If you OCed both cards they would reach similar levels of performance, while the strix runs a LOT cooler.

The thing you aren't noticing is the strix is running 4 dB quieter than the SC2

Here are some tests normalized at 40 dB.

As you can see the strix is beating every other card by a fair margin.

Take noise into consideration.

If you push the Strix fan to 37dBa which is what the SC2 is running at then yes it will run cooler than that.

GPU boost is a thing, the cards won't run at exactly the boost clock the box says, it will run alot higher if temps allow it to.

Manual OC is always the best thing to do anyway if you don't mind spending the time to find the sweet spot for your card.

i see that. but the ftw is at a higher clock rate so it will produce more heat.

the strix is good but the sc 2 is better because of its base and boost clock, price and temps..

Look at the benchmarks, the performance is pretty much the same.

okay the strix seems cooler in that test buy a few c's but its not much to talk about..

i wouldnt trade that for what i can get with the SC 2 which is lower price and higher boosts

all the 1080 ti's are amazing except the mini ones they are hot, so any 1080 ti you find its considered to be amazing regardless of the company but yes evga products are really good

The SC2 is still the card I would choose at that budget purely because of EVGA customer service. It's just from a performance and price standpoint I would say the strix is better, even though I would still choose EVGA

Evga support is solid. RMA is simple with them. If you have to RMA a 2nd time they send you the graphics card first and send you a box to return it in. Its really solid.  Though the quality of the refurbished part they send you back is not always great.

The SC2 is still the card I would choose at that budget purely because of EVGA customer service. It's just from a performance and price standpoint I would say the strix is better, even though I would still choose EVGA

The strix is only better in cooling by a few c's but the EVGA have better performance and price. which is far better
