Is this a decent Ryzen Build?

I had a recent post but decided to tweak some things on it. Is this a decent Gaming/Coding build for a $1,400.00 budget? Any improvements I can make to increase performance but not increase the cost? I have a 240 gb SSD so no storage is listed.

what would you be doing with this?

I would throw in a 650w power supply just to be in the efficiency curve

ask me about your system builds, AIO's, CPU's, PSU's, and GPU's.

I believe you would be better off with an Intel chip then but yea. the thing I just sad is the only thing, and maby something to put your data on

If you aren't using applications that will take advantage of all those cores then a 1600 R5 would probably get you the same gaming performance at a lower price.  But I get it, If I was going to build a Ryzen system, I'd want an R7 too....

Forgot to mention I had a 240gb SSD already. Thanks for mentioning that. I added it to the post.

The only thing that will be installed on the SSD is the games. I have a 1TB HDD that I have all my work on. I also use portable versions of most of my applications from my 5tb external. Games being Battlefield, PUBG, and CoD.

Are you sure you'll benefit from the 8-core? You may be better off with a 1600 or 8400 and a more powerful GPU.

Don't get a B350 board to overclock a Ryzen 8-core. Get a decent X370 board, like the Prime Pro.

What about the 1600x with the Asus - STRIX X370-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard

Don't get the 1600X. Just get the 1600. But with a 6-core, a decent B350 board should be fine. The X370 Strix is a very decent board.

I tweaked the build. Is this a little better?

Change the PSU to the Cooler Master V550 in the OP, and maybe consider a 1080. Assuming you'll play at 1440p, and that the programs you'll use are multithreaded, it looks good

:)

With the 1600, the 1080 makes more sense, unless you're going to game at ultrawide 1440p or 4K. The 1080 Ti is also a whole lot more expensive. For coding, the GPU shouldn't make a difference, though.

Will this build with the 1600 and 1080 get me some decent FPS while gaming on high settings?

Depends on the resolution. At 1080p and 1440p, yes, That's very doable.
