Any of the Founders Edition (EVGA, MSI, etc.) will be the least expensive. Avoid all other blowers, please, as only Nvidia has put any upgrades to the blower design.

As for the one I would recommend? EVGA's 1080 SC iCX and FTW iCX are solid cards, but Zotac has their Mini around the $540 mark, IIRC.

If you look on Amazon right now the cheapest 1080s are ASUS' Turbo (Blower-style) and MSI's Armor (dual fan) for 499 and 509 respectively.

For $504, that's a solid choice. For the monitor, I would recommend getting an ultrawide 2560x1080 or 16:9 1440 panel.

So? You're seeing more of the game at once. It gives you more awareness of the surroundings vs a 16:9 monitor in any genre.

It's a good one. No matter what you choose for a monitor, make sure that it isn't 4K.

I would say so. You recuperated most of the 1070's cost. You could also look into the 1080 Ti if you can wait for the monitors to come down in price.

Memory is a large part of the 1080's performance.

There's also the 1070 Ti which performs around 5-10% of the 1080 at stock. You'll have to overclock manually, but it is cheaper than the 1080 and meets the performance of the 1080.

8GB GDDR5X is quite a bit faster than 8GB GDDR5. This, along with the extra CUDA cores, is what brings the 1080 its lead against the 1070.

Did you take a look at the 1070 Ti?

Yes but why buying 1070 TI while i have the money for 1080? did i make a stupid move by selling my 1070? everyone is telling me that i did and i won't gain performance even on 1440p screen :/
