Qualcomm sues Apple for breach of software license contract

ItsMitch

I guess Qualcomm didn't take too kindly to Apple leaving them in the dust for Intel.

Quote

Qualcomm Inc (QCOM.O) has sued Apple Inc (AAPL.O), alleging that it violated a software license contract to benefit rival chipmaker Intel Corp (INTC.O) for making broadband modems, the latest salvo in the longstanding dispute between Qualcomm and Apple - Reuters

At this rate, anyone is throwing around lawsuits left right and center but it'll be cool to see where this actually goes and how far.

The biggest problem with patent holders...

(speaking of pharmaceuticals and tech mostly)

I do want to see where this would go since some of those modems Qualcomm has patents for are nearly mandatory for most flagships.

Feel free to correct me on this, but that's what I think.

Isn't this why Intel, Samsung, and Apple were pissed at Qualcomm? I think there was a thread about it on the forum.

Pharmaceuticals (whilst very controversial) is a little different in that the investment and time it takes to get drugs to market just about demand patents or it wouldn't happen at all (at least not at the speed it does, we'd be limited to government funded research).   Not too mention the incredible hoops and testing each drug has to go through before any can be sold.
