Poor College Wifi Signal (on mobile phone)

Hi guys, 

 

So I've just started another term of college and with it a wifi signal problem, I only noticed this issue today by the way. My problem is when I'm in the main part of the college the signal is very erratic what I mean by this is the single drops in and out every few seconds and doing a speed test reveals very poor results (10ms Ping, 11.01 Mbps Download & 25.49 Mbps upload) but the thing is when I go over to a separate building of the college my download gets about 62 Mbps which was the speed I normally got around the whole college before I broke up for the term break. Can anyone think of things I could do to stop this? (all other mobile devices in the main area of the college don't have this issue).

Unless you install tinder, I don't think the wifi will help you not being single anymore sorry.

check if you wireless adapter is able to automatically change channel width or channels

 

your wireless is prob using a channel which is congested with other devices sharing the same wifi hotspot

Yep it does get busy with other users but like I said it was never like this before I broke up for the term break.

did you update the wireless adapter driver?

what adapter you are using on the laptop?

Oh it not a laptop, it's a mobile phone (Sony Xperia XZ Premium)

Does you phone has the 5GHz band for wifi? Technically the phone will hop between the channels.

 

I could only say is try to forget the network and then try adding the hotspot back.

Yes it does have a 5GHz band and I've tried forget the network but hasn't done anything.

You mentioned it only just one area right? Does it happen with other places?

No only in the main part of the college, as I said I can go over to a separate building (still on the same site) and get stable wifi and decent speeds.

Wireless coverage or just the hotspot

 

You cant do much on your part.

 

You can use those app wifi scanner and see how is the performance of the wifi in the affected area.
