4k tvs don't need gsync with hdmi 2.1

Does anyone have any updated info on the hdmi 2.1 update and/or knowledge of how specifically TV manufacturers or AMD/Nvidia plan to update existing firmware. I'm MST interested in the 4k 120hz gaming since my ks8000 from 2016 supports a native 120hz panel/240 motion. I really hope they don't fudge this one!

To clarify, it will bring variable refresh rate via a new or old cable. 4k 120hz gaming.

They won't update any firmware.

If you want something that has HDMI 2.1 you will need to buy a new device.

Even 1080p 120Hz doesn't work on your tv even though it has a 120Hz panel.

The software simply does not allow it.
