Logitech g502 not scrolling

Go to solution Solved by Dendzser,

In case anyone is interested: the mouse only worked on a win 8.1 machine, nowhere else. When we plugged in another, my laptop immediately recognized it with no issues.

hi,
new to the forum (not LTT) as I have no other idea where to turn to. Just bought a brand new Logitech G502, but the scroll wheel does not work. Every button and function works properly, even the scroll click. Here are the steps I have been through:
- install its software, remove and reinstall again (tried with just win drivers too)
- switch USB ports, USB 2 and 3 too
- tested in other PCs: win 10 laptop, win 7 desktop, linux laptop, none worked
- ran windows update
- removed razer synapse
- tried to find updated driver to HID mouse compliant driver
- started in safe mode
After this I was fairly convinced I got myself a faulty one so I took it back to the store. They plug it in and boom, it is working properly. We checked they have the same HID driver as my win does, no Logitech gaming installed. If I plug in my Razer, everything is fine.
Any ideas please?

EDIT: forgot two steps, tried two earlier versions of Logitec Gaming they didn't even recognize the mouse.

try deleting the driver, and then reboot windows (another mouse may need to be used here), and see if windows installs a compliant driver. I often don't bother installing logitechs drivers nowadays unless there;s a problem with the HID-compliant drivers.

I tried clicking uninstall then scan again, no change. If I uninstall the device, by the time I'd restart the machine windows already adds it back...

Hmm, don't know then. Only other thing I can think of is trying an earlier driver version from logitech. I've never had many problems with logitech products TBH, they have mostly been plug n play. Sorry can't offer more than that.

I would contact Logitech. You may have a defective mouse. My 6502 has never had scroll issues in the almost three years I've had it

Opened a ticket there too. I had a G400 until 2 weeks ago so (5+ yrs) so I know this is not common.

I bought a softly used G502 and I never had a problem. Going to Logitech was the right move.

Instructions for frustration management:

1) Sit at desk.   2) Repeatedly slam forehead against desk.

I never said I was smart, just smart enough to be dangerous.
