Power Supply Reputations

Steven H

Apart from those well known brands, like Corsair, EVGA, Cooler Master, Seasonic, etc.; and those brands that should definitely avoid at any cost (to me), like Raidmax, Logisys, Coolmax, etc. There are some brands with unknown reputations (to me). The three brands are: Rosewill, Silverstone and Thermaltake. I'd like to ask your guys opinions. How is their quality? What is their reputations looks like?

Reason I'm asking is that I'm planning a new build, and their product are generally cheaper than their equivalent. I found them to be a decent deal while I don't want it to blow up. I found their review to be decently positive on PC Part Picker but they are pretty rare. I want to make sure I will make the right choice.

Look at the PSU tier list... every manufacturer will have at the cheaper end of the spectrum PSUs that aren't as reliable as they had to cut costs somewhere to keep the prices down.

PSU tier list link in my sig.

Silverstone's reputation is pretty good I would say is up there with the rest Rosewill I believe is NewEggs in house brand. I have used theirs before and I had no issues. Thermaltake personally I wouldn't use but thats personal preference I think.

There's this list here on the forums. It's sort of old but should still hold up. I think there's an updated one but I don't remember who posted it.
