Help on installing intel stock cooler on lga 1156 mobo

I am installing a modern non screw intel stock cooler on a lga 1156 motherboard and it is not fitting. The motherboard it through hole but the cooler has some sort of pin thingy and they don’t fit together, the cooler says compatibility with my socket

they are push pins and need some force to snap into the holes

 

any pictures of the install?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

you turn the little pins clockwise (i think) for installation, and then you just line them up, and push them through the motherboard holes.

lift the board up off the table at least half an inch, so the pins have room to go through, and then just push each one in individually.

I recently had to work on one of these systems and you need to turn the push pins counter clockwise before trying to push through mobo then turn them clockwise to lock into place after they have been pushed through.

make sure the locking tabs are fully pulled out before you press the pin down into the holes

 

you should hear a snap sound when they are fully in the holes

that might explain the issue

 

you may need to expand the holes but don't use too much force

No, the backplate is to support the previous cooler.

The backplate comes off. It might be a bit stuck due to being mounted for a while but you'll need to take it off for the standard stock cooler.
