settlers I miss Settlers.

I'm finding myself really missing playing The Settlers (classic games of my youth) and am really wishing that they'd release a new one that I could play while taking advantage of my brand new shiny GTX 1060. Can any kind soul recommend a game in a similar vein?

 

I'm just really missing playing the old strategy games of my childhood, and want something modern that scratched the same itch.

You're right. I sunk so many hours into settlers 4 as a kid. Still have the box somewhere.

Closest thing to Settlers I can think of is Banished, but it's missing that cartoon look that made settlers so unique.

Yeah, civ is good in pretty much any iteration, I've played them all... not so keen on civ 6, but that's mostly because they changed so much of it.

If you like the game for mechanics, who cares about graphics? Could be GOG.com's ad I have disc version of Settlers 3 I know isn't working properly on Win7 (graphical bugs), but I bought Settlers II from GOG.com long time ago if I ever were needing some game on laptop.

Settlers 2 is one of the best games ever made. 3 wasn't bad either, after that it's all just crap except for gfx
