which will still be generations behind the competition.

Honestly, Nintendo should make a $400-500 proper unibody, powerful Switch with a 1080p screen and capable hardware. AND make a good quantity of them... instead of letting resellers make money, they should make that money themselves!

People were screaming bloody murder at the idea of paying 500 dollars for a console new.  I doubt anyone would want to buy a switch for over 400 dollars.

A lot of the people on this thread would. They should have made 2 model lines, similar to the PS4 Slim/Pro and now Xbox One S/X. Those who want better performance and quality get the Switch Pro or whatever, others get cheap one for their grandkids Christmas gift.

7 people in a thread =/= the general public who would buy a Switch as-is

Gaming enthusiasts are not part of the GPop willing to buy a regular switch anyways... what's your point? My 'device' would be for the type of people with 1070s and higher who care more about the experience than a relatively (in the big picture of things) small ~$200 premium for something that should last for several years.

(i.e. 5 years of a console, which is honestly on the short side, an extra $200 would be $40/year... or like $3.3/month. That's probably not even going to matter considering inflation and things... if you drive 20 less miles a month you have now paid for your Switch Pro).

You'd get thousands of sales, which, in console terms, is a complete failure.
