Hey, today I installed a Super Flower 750W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular PSU and noticed it has a switch in the back saying "ECO" and "AUTO", where as "AUTO" is...whatever, should be automatic fan speed...and "ECO" is the fan not spinning. Is the ECO mode recommended? I mean, is it not going to overheat or anything? The PSU is a 750W unit, and according to Cooler Master's PSU Calculator, my PC outputs about 326W, and the recommended PSU Wattage is 376W. Could I be using the fan-less mode in my rig?

Many thanks, Bruno.

The fan will kick in when the temperature reaches a certain point no matter what. Eco just leaves it turned off until that point is reached.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Great, so, It's perfectly safe to leave it in ECO mode all the time?

Check your manual just to be sure, but yeah, I've never known a Super Flower to be equipped with a self-destruct button.

Well, the PSU was in a used PC I bought, so, no manual :(

Find the model number of your PSU, and look up the manual for it online.

It's a Super Flower. You're good. You can check the manual online by googling the model number, but a 750W standard ATX PSU with no active cooling is a firebomb waiting to happen. The fan will kick in when it needs to.

Eco mode seems a little sketchy to me. I have an EVGA PSU (their OEM is Superflower if I'm not mistaken) and I've noticed that it gets pretty warm when I engage Eco mode and the fan turns off. Since the fan is pretty much silent anyway I just leave it on.

Lucky you...

That's not always the case and some people who want a more quiet PSU can be quite unhappy with many Super Flower made units like EVGA did...

And EVGA sleeps with almost everyone that lets them, so they have Super Flower, FSP, HEC at the moment...

Especially the higher wattage Super Flower unit can be rather shitty because their fan controller isn't that great...

I'm quite unhappy with my Leadex II 650/750W thing...

Yes. It will kick the fan in when it gets hot enough to trigger it.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
