What would happen if you installed windows on a console?

I'm sure there's a way to install windwos on a hard drive which you could connect to a PS4 or Xbox One. And since the new consoles are PCs anyway... I'm curious what would happen. Linus, do this experiment!

You wouldn't be able to select the correct HAL or even get drivers for the hardware.

 

However if you wanted to.... use Linux on a console i know it can be done on the xbox360

Zephyr, Falcon, Jasper and Trinity (aka X360 Slim) you cannot though

if you can do this i am going to buy a ps4 or xbone when i get my comp money ( i was in a car crash so getting like 2k pounds for my injuries , which where basically nothing) then just put windows on it . just so i can say that "i can"

Well, the original Xbox basically ran a modified kernel of Windows NT, so.....

The new consoles will need to be cracked or have an exploit discovered before we see Windows or Linux on them. This is because the CPU uses private keys to stop unsigned code from running. So basically you need to crack the key (is extremely hard, Original Xbox was never fully cracked I believe) or find an exploit that allows unsigned code to run. Think reset glitch hack on the Xbox 360.
