usb still powered when computer turns off

when I turn off my computer, the usb slots still supply power to my mouse keyboard and headset which all light up and this creates a huge inconvenience.

help would be much appreciated, thanks

You're just gonna have to live with it, unless you want to unplug your computer.

 

I personally just attatch it all to a power bar and turn it off when I go to sleep.

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Change the USB S state so that they fully power down when the computer is in S5.

Most boards have a "powered USB while off" option for charging and stuff, usually you can turn it off, I personally leave it off.

normally this applies to USB 3 ports or newer only, if you don't want the light try switching them to either USB 2 slots or checking to see if there is an off state for your USB ports in the bios...

alternatively, to save electricity entirely, turn off the entire system at the plug I have Alexa and TP Link smart home plugs and all i have to do is say - Alexa, Turn off my Rig" and it all turns off...

ok thanks everyone ill try these different methods in the bios, if that doesn't work I will just go for the good old fashion off from the mains

As others have said its probably a charging option allot of newer boards offer it also I think there should be an option for your peripherals to turn off when powered down in their associated software

Enable S4+S5 in your board's BIOS, which causes the system to consume very little power when the system is off (only power it gets goes to the Power button).
