Destiny 2 not utilising RYZEN SMT

Damascus

Just watched the video again. It looks like Ryzen has an issue over all tested CPU's as an i3-7350K is beating the R7-1700@3.9GHz. Looks like the game is largely GPU-dependent as well. I'm going to hazard my guess, once again, that the issue is the engine and Bungie will have to make just a few changes before gold.

So is it possible that this is a ryzen specific issue that simply requires a lot more work to fix?

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

I think that:

A) The issue is Ryzen-specific as all Ryzen CPU's perform relatively poorly. Don't know if this is because of the memory bandwidth (I/O, RAM, etc.) or the clock speed.

B) Destiny 2 only asks for four cores, as an i3 and i5 perform very similarly to an i7 meaning that the CPU uses the four physical cores and the scheduling from the four logical cores.

C) The game is GPU-limited as most of the CPU's (when separating Intel's line-up and AMD's line-up for comparison) stopped at the same point.

  • 2 weeks later...

As new hardware is launched game developers will have to/may eventually use the hardware's new features in the game/s that they make/create. Although this will take some time and may not happen (the developers using Ryzen SMT in this case).

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,

It can probably be patched in before launch if they really care.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Hopefully, I'm honestly not super hyped for destiny 2 anymore anyways, anthem looks damn fine.  Too bad it comes out in 2018...

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious
