Before anyone tries to paint Microsoft as innocent, must I remind you about their "Scroogled" campaign of attack ads targeted at Google that ran from 2012 to 2014? It's only been 3 years since the last Scroogled ad ran, surely you still remember it.

Microsoft just has to figure out how to create a java VM capable of running Android apps that is different enough that they can't get busted for patent infringement. Or, join AOSP as a contributor, and add in UMP and change the UI.

Android apps are becoming less dependent on Java though. That might work for apps for Android 1.0 - 4.4, but not so much for 5.0 and above.

I think Microsoft should just re-purpose the Windows Phone interface and use it as an interface for their own version of Android.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

If you are talking about Windows 10 Mobile during its early days where Android was integrated to the OS, this didn't work out, mostly because the phone was getting a serious performance hit even on the highest-end phone. Microsoft pulled the plug on the experimental project after not being able to figure out on how to make it more lightweight.

I'm not that fond of Android. Quite honestly, outside of Samsung's phones, I'd rather use W10M, and the only things I like about Android are out of the box modding and app support. Everything else takes a back seat to iOS and W10M, especially how Android's integration options are just shit.
