Should I buy Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce 3X 8G for 510 euros or Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8G for 440 euros?

I currenty have i7 4790K CPU, 16GB of RAM, Gigabyte GTX 770 Windforce 3X 2GB. Also 2 1080p monitors, but maybe I will upgrade one 1080p monitor to 1440p.

Easy. GTX 1080 is around 25%~ faster than a GTX 1070. Sometimes 27%, sometimes 22%~. Depends on resolution etc. But kinda, 22-26%, let's say that.

For the GTX 1080 you would pay 15% more. For 22-26% more Performance.

Now you do the Math ;-)

I would get the GTX 1080 easy. GTX 1070 is absolutely NOT interesting, if you don't get it for max 400€~

And also, if you upgrade to 1440p, a GTX 1070 is "ok" if you stay at 60 Hz.

If you get something like a Dell S2417dg, which i HIGHLY recommend as a cheap option, Trust me, you WILL want the Additional Power of the GTX 1080. Absolutely. 1440p is one thing, but having 144+ Hz (which means, you can use up to 144 fps usefully) is a whole other topic. Even a GTX 1080 ti won't be able to hold 144 fps in every game in high/ultra settings ^^" so yea. 1080 hands down.

Back to Monitor: Dell S2417dg. 24" Monitor, TN panel but a pretty damn good one. 144 Hz with OC to 165 possible, 1440p resolution (pretty sharp at 24"), and the Gamer's best friend: G-Sync. Yes, even at 165 Hz it does make a difference and make the game smoother.

Jumping from 60 Hz to not only 144+ Hz, but also combined with G-Sync will seriously be a whole different World for you.

when i bought my aorus gtx 1080 ti for 750€ 2 months ago, the 1080 ti would be a similar price/performance ratio like the gtx 1080. a decent 1080 cost 550€ and a 1080 ti FE 700€

probably 1070 unless you plan on getting a 144hz 1440p monitor but I would upgrade cpu soon because it will bottle neck the gpu if you overclock the 1070 and almost always the 1080.

Thank you for the detailed response, much appreciated! I think I'm going to go with the 1080. Also I'll remember the monitor, when I'm going to buy a new one.

But the price ratio is bad for the 1070 and maybe in the future it'll not be anough for 1440p Ultra, but thanks for the reply.
