more like what they paid him lol.

The answer to that is $0. If we were paid for any of the recent AMD content that would have been disclosed prominently in said content.

But do you know why Ayymd has been so kind to him recently?

Exclusive rights or early access to hardware can be a form of payment. And I would be ok with that.

AMD recognizes our reach as one of the biggest tech outlets in the world right now. It's not about "being kind" it's about recognizing the benefit of providing content to our audience.

I was very nervous watching him handle those components. :S

Best Excuses:

#1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

#2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."

Linus is one of the top youtube reviewers and most liked so it was in AMD' best interest to just let Linus do it? I'm more interested in how poor Vega is going to be tbh :D

Linus gets many, many views from content, and AMD gets one of the biggest spotlight/coverages in both enthusiast and mainstream segment with one of the biggest names atm for free. It's a win-win scenario. If they sell 1 more card/processor due to the coverage they have profit.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

looks like EPYC will be pretty easy to cool.

Maybe, there's also a chance this is their lowest end EPYC chip, because that's the power of EPYC, even the cheapest version still has 2TB RAM support and 128 PCIe available. Which makes it great for those types of systems where 95% of the work is done with GPUs.

Not really: Those fans on the front are seriously powerful. Even frighteningly powerful and loud too.

Here's a clue: The GPUs also have no fans, Linus confirms in the video they're 300watts a piece and there's 4 of them on the server. They're being cooled by just 4 front fan that blow a small damn hurricane through the entire server.
