Didnt quite get you man You'll only have 7 open ports. 8 port switch means 8 total ports, no reserved ports unfortunately. So you'll need a 12 or 16 port switch like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122139&cm_re=12_port_gigabit_switch-_-33-122-139-_-Product Current Network Layout: Current Build Log/PC: Prior Build Log/PC:
 Can I just buy 2 of the TP-Link TL-SF1008Ds and drag a cable from one of them to the other in order to get internet. So 3 cables just for internet on the first switch then 2 on the next one. Why would you need to route back one cable on the second switch to the first one? It's something people sometimes do, for reasons that baffle me, and it'lll cause a loop and things will be bad So you'll need 2 cables, 1 from each switch to the router, or you can go router > switch > switch and still just need 2. 1 cable between each device. Posted July 30, 2017 No, you can daisy chain them if you like, it works fine, so basically [router]->[switch 1]->[switch 2]... and you can plug any PC into any of them, they will all have the router as the gateway. Yep, that's why it's OK to daisy chain them if you want, saves more wiring if you have a distance to cover. Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.
