Help with GPU sagging (really weird problem)

both would require modifications (tell me how to contain soil in an unmodified pot that is upside down).

- An "upside down car" would still need wheels at the bottom in order for it to be useful (which defeats the definition of upside-down imo)

- Water (or any liquid) can't be pumped upwards infinitely because gravity is working against it, regardless of pumping pressure

I built a Lego tower and used it to support my GPU . Not sure if it'll work with your temp issue though....

Because things might be made to stand in one position, not however you like. Even car engines will fail running upside down. The AIO loop would also struggle because it uses gravity to circulate the liquid properly.

Even if I slightly push the card with my finger it overheats  I already have an HIS support stand to use but it just overheats  Today I might take my card apart.

Maybe the PCB is bend and the cooler is making un-even pressure on GPU Chip itself, making it (as you said) un-stick. Would try to take it apart, see if there is any damage on the PCB itself, then maybe slightly bend it back (your risk) in your hands. Or if its the cooler what is bend, Accelero cooler , or look on used market for Heatsinks on GPU.

I don't want to stress the PCB, I can't afford breaking it. But if the rest of the card gets straightened then the PCB would surely follow suit... Ahh... I really wanted to avoid taking the card apart. Guess I either stick with getting frustrated about it or get into it.

Sagging is not good either, so it could end up damaged. Bought GTX 960 G1 Gaming a while ago, pretty beefy cooler, it was sagging too, i bought a case where the motheboard is positioned horizontally.

I had a 970 G1 Gaming before this one, I just used a zip tie to level it, worked perfectly. This one doesn't like it, not sure why.

This was my solution. It has been working perfectly for 3-4 months.

yes and no, maybe a 3.5 will unlodge itself but remove hard drive and flip it the other way round, thats that problem solved

Yeah that's a pretty obvious solution, but like I said even the slightest upwards pressure on the card results in overheating. I'm not looking for a solution on how to support the card, but rather on why it overheats when I do.

Have you considered using a support while the system is off and laying the system on its side while it is on? It should slowly work its way back to normal that way.

If the card is supported it will overheat no matter what, doesn't care if the PC is laying on its side, I tried. It's as if by straightening it I am somehow pushing the heat-sink away from the dye  I think I'm out of options other than taking it apart and figuring out what's causing the issue.

 

Edit: Maybe if I tried using an extra amount of thermal paste to account for any micro-gap that is being created?

That's why I said to support it while the PC is off and don't let it sag any further (by laying it on its side while it is running) to let it return to its original state.

I could try that, though I hardly turn it off. Might do that and leave it overnight, though at this point I don't have high hopes.

Just turn it upside down unless you're certain that something won't work. My PC is working fine right now upside down, and I have an AiO, 5 HDDs, and 6 fans.

The case won't even sit upside down, it's curved on the top  Also that could take months to fix itself, I couldn't possibly bear with it.

Then build a wall PC with the motherboard upside down or something.

My PC is curved on the top as well, just lean it against something.

This is a very strange problem. Sounds like the heatsink has come loose from the GPU or something. Orientation should not matter to temps at all.

 

Do yourself a favor and RMA the card to get it fixed.

 

The option of mounting it vertically is a good one as well, after you get it fixed. I have a mini ITX system with the card vertical, no sagging at all! Just makes sense, since the GPU is the heaviest component.
