Modded MC: getting extremely low framerate on decent PC

Go to solution Solved by computer1up,

Finally found the issue! A dev told me on discord that I should turn off the mipmap levels to a minimum. As soon as I did that, my game suddenly increased in framerate!

BTW uninstall Java 8.

Protip: you can specifically choose the java version the game should use in Technic Launcher.

But Java 8 sometimes conflicts. I know that.

Nope, java7 didn't improve my experience at all.

I'm out of ideas, so I'm just going to stop replying.

I don't know what it is, but Minecraft hates AMD GPUs. I get good fps without mods with an R9 390, but I get like 3 times that fps with a GTX 960.

Have you tried any FTB packs recently? They have almost always worked better for me than technic. ATLauncher is better IMO as well.

If I were to guess however, it's your CPU.

Probably either the CPU, or the driver and windows 10 combo. I've heard that a developer in the pack I'm currently playing had issues with windows 10 and an RX460. Heard it indirectly though, so couldn't ask for details. Yet he had an AMD APU...

I'm trying yet another driver version atm.

No, haven't used FTB recently. Mainly because I was hoping I could actually play this pack, community on it seems great. Have had similar bad experiences with ATlauncher though.

OK, so I started up Tekkit Legends from the TL real quick and it performend perfectly. Must be something with the Schematic modpack that's bugging the crap out of my system.
