Modded MC: getting extremely low framerate on decent PC

Go to solution Solved by computer1up,

Finally found the issue! A dev told me on discord that I should turn off the mipmap levels to a minimum. As soon as I did that, my game suddenly increased in framerate!

Yikes! Another thread on the low-fps train with Minecraft.

So yeah, using modpacks of the game, whatever version I'm running, whichever version of Java I've got installed, no matter which driver versions I've got, my performance in modpacks is poor (unplayable poor, 3fps average). I know my pc can handle it, it USED to run them fine.

Currently troubleshooting Schematica V4 by Recallgaming. It's got Optifine Ultra D6 installed by default, even updating that to D8 manually didn't help anything. Hell, I'm typing this from a fresh Windows 10 install I just did, and nothing has changed. I'm seeing all the comments on other threads and the usual answers say "Allocate more RAM", "Set affinity and priority", "update Java", "Get optifine", and so the list goes on. But no, all of that had no avail.

It seems like the problem lies deeper, maybe somewhere with later forge versions.

Fun fact: my rMBP 15" from 2015 with only Iris Pro runs the pack flawlessly at 60FPS, so that's a bit weird eh?

Specs:

i5 2400

12GB DDR3

RX470 8GB by MSI (yep, the Gaming X card, god I love that card)

I had the exact same issue. Im pretty sure it has something to do with the Polaris arch because I had shaders on low running at 30FPS on my OCed RX 480 which could run maxed out Arma 3 60fps. I feel like we should just wait until the mods/game get proper Polaris support

Yeah, but that should at least give me 24fps or more, but it runs at just 3fps now...

I did mention I'm running Schematic V4 now. Used to run YogsCastComplete pack a while back, which ran at least playable on my GTX560TI and older java version...

Schematic V4 is available from the Technic Launcher.

So what exactly does this post contribute to solving the problem?

I know that, but it doesn't seem like it maxes out my 2400 though. Besides, AFAIK minecraft relies less on threads and more on clocks, in which case my 2400 shouldn't be that far behind the 4770HQ mobile CPU in my MBP...

meh

maB it's just a java problem I had like 30fps on a laptop i used to have but since you have lots of modpacks it dropped fps. Check to make sure you have the latest java.

It's also very dependent on IPC. Is your RAM and GPU maxed out?

1.7.10, vanilla runs fine on this version but modpacks seem to give me problems every time.

I ran both 1.6.4 modpacks and 1.10.2 modpacks wich were still very playable (the 1.10.2 modpacks even ran good enough with SEUS shaders!)

Try using Java 7.
