HDD shows up in BIOS but doesn't post into windows

I took apart my laptop and it worked before but now it doesn't I tested it again with my laptop nothing, I just my system running I got into windows before and now it's just showing a underscore flashing that's it and don't mind the tiger it's a long story

Does it start booting windows but then basically 'give up' and give you nothing but a blinking cursor?  I've seen Windows do this when it's storage has become corrupt or is failing, leaving it unable to boot.

It just doesn't boot into windows I can into the bios but in my laptop it works fine but in my desktop it doesn't work fine same with a external Hdd that I have and it has all of the installers that I need to get going

Well, in short, you screwed something up.  I hope you had a good reason to open the laptop.

Fuck I need still need to use my laptop for somebody stuff and should I get new storage device?

You should probably try backing your critical files up, formatting it and reinstalling Windows first.

Why did you disassemble the laptop in the first place?

Ehm, just to clarify, you took out the drive from your laptop, and it isn't booting while connected to your PC?

 

Then when put back into the laptop, does it boot? or same behavior?

Wait, what?  Explain?  Though my guess would be that you took the drive out to use in the desktop for testing but you didn't feel like explaining that because you're pretty obtuse when it comes to providing details while asking for help.

The Laptop HDD surely won't boot into windows on your PC. Just because the hardware and drivers are totally different. 

 

Windows tries to boot but topples over missing drivers etc and then stops.

It's at 100% and it's booting into windows but it's on the Lenovo screen with the circle of death

The faulted boot ups could have damaged the filesystem on that drive. 

 

Again for clarification, you can't use your Laptop System Disk to boot up your PC. Completely different components, won't happen. 

 

If you had 2 identical machines (Like I have here, see the signature) I could swap disks and parts as long as it makes me happy. Ok I won't live long enough to enjoy the parts from my wifes computer, even though she is in heaven, I will surley be stricken down by a heavenly rolling pin of doom.

 

But I won't be able to boot up my PC with the OS drive from my laptop.

Well, no, that's not really true at all.  When Windows finds itself in a new home, it'll renumerate it's devices and install the appropriate drivers, even for the chipset and boot up.  This is why the drive worked fine in his desktop and booted.  I've done this a number of times.  Heck I even migrated a Windows 10 install on an Intel RAID1 from 2500k/p67 to 3770k/z77 to 4930k/x79 without issues  THat said, windows can sometimes have weird screw ups when it comes to numerating hardware.  I have a 3770k system that this weekend for a FRESH INSTALL it wouldn't boot right on the second boot.  Windows would install base MS drivers for the GPU then on reboot it'd fail to initialize them.  THe solution was to boot with the Intel IGP as primary, delete the discrete GPU from Device Manager to force it to again renumerate the GPU on the next boot, and THAT got it working because... Hell I have no idea.  Sometimes Windows just does stupid things, really.

If you prepare the system disk you move, yes it works. But just taking it out and putting it into another machine won't usually work.

 

I myself moved a system (W2K) from a PIII to an AMD Athlon without fresh install. Later an XP from the Athlon to a Core 2 Duo, without fresh install... later yes I installed a fresh 7. this moved again without reinstalling form the Core 2 Duo to the machine in my signature. And it would still be the same one if the recent NVIDIA drivers wouldn't crap the system beyond repair... 

 

It can be done, but there need to be things done before, and a minimal kind of compatibility must be given.

If possible yes... else you would need to reinstall windows onto the laptop drive, while connected to your PC. But then it won't work in your laptop anymore.

 

It would be the easiest solution to get a new drive for your PC.

 

Else if you are knowledgeable enough, you could repartition the laptop drive (while in the laptop) resize C: (make it smaller so there is enough space for a second installation of windows) then put it into your PC and do a fresh install onto the now gained empty space. Then you will have to chose on boot which windows to boot from the Windows Boot manager.

 

But that is a little tricky to do right.
