there is two issues with that.

1) some people don't know how to do that

2) some people can solve them when they are drunk (I have, can't remember why)

3) some people have smart children or partners to do this for them when their drunk

 

sorry to burst you bubble, what would work though is have a pocket pussy type thing on the can and if it's used, in public (one or two cameras would be needed on the cans) then the person using it is far too drunk to be allowed to drink

The age restriction only applies to porn sites that provide porn commercially. So tumblr, which is where vast majority of teenagers will watch porn, where underage users are literally the main audience, is not restricted. absolutely no one thought this thing through.

 

Also no idea how they can impose fines on companies that have no base in the UK.

 

 

the idea is ridiculous, it should be up to parents to make sure their kids are safe online, shouldn't punish the rest of us. good example said above about car manufacturers putting licence scanners on their vehicles.

they will either fine them or completely block the website on the ISP level so you need to VPN out the country in order to see the website. Pretty much the way they plan to police it is banning the websites so they can't be accessed, without you tricking them to think your in another country

Oh I agree it's stupid you should not need to prove your age you should be trusted to be the correct age. Also may I add the fact you can consent at 16 but can't watch porn till your 18 makes this even more stupid. If you want kids not to watch porn make the parents stop them. Also very few kids will actively look for porn until they hit puperty. And at that point even if this law exists they will find it. Either through a website that hasn't been banned yet or through a porn mag/DVD. (I have a feeling they will become a thing again people without credit cards buy, so well done you've given a nearly obsolete a use again)

They plan to get the ISPs to block all pornsites which don't comply, I believe it's the same way china does it. So there is ways round the ban, but the fact that they are even trying to do this is the problem, cause they might extend it to other things or VPNs cause they can get round it etc. so eventually there is a whitelist of websites rather than a blacklist

What will they sensor next? It's a slippery slope from here folks. Also if you have a kid just put a porn blocker on your PC or monitor them when they use it. If they are hitting puberty porn is the least of your worries. Don't let Daddy government raise your kids for you.

and the imaginary numbers are all concepts as I said, so here might be a real answer for it, but we just haven't found it yet. This entire bill is such a mess.

If I am reading this correctly (there are a lot of vague terms in the bill), then this will not just apply to porn sites. It will also apply to any website that can, either accidentally or deliberately, also link to porn (either via links or ads).

 

Here is that part:

(5) In this section an “ancillary service provider” means a person, other than a payment-services provider, who appears to the age-verification regulator to—

 

(a)provide, in the course of a business, services which enable or facilitate the making available of pornographic material or extreme pornographic material on the internet by the non-complying person; or

 

(b)advertise, on or via any internet site operated by the non-complying person or via any other means of accessing the internet operated or provided by that person, any goods or services provided in the course of a business.

 

So if the UK government deems that LTT contains links or ads (either intentionally or by accident) they think are inappropriate LTT would also require credit card verification to visit.

 

I also love their definitions of things. Here is how they explain what "extreme pornographic material" is:

For the purposes of subsection (1)(b), material is extreme if—

(a)its content is as described in section 63(7) or (7A) of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008, and

(b)it is grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character.

 

I think the best laws are those who literally says "it is illegal to watch things that are disgusting".

Section 63(7) goes into more specifics but part (b) is just completely unnecessary if you ask me.
