NET NEUTRALITY

edwbob

So, at least in America, AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon are trying to remove net neutrality and allow ISPs to slow down any site that doesn't pay them extra or that goes against them. This is ridiculous! If you care about the internet being what it is, go enter your comments on the FCC page.

The whole irony of this is Ajit Pai is calling the repealing of Net Neutrality "Restoring Internet Freedom."

I guess freedom for ISPs to tell us to bend over and take it.

Ya seriously :)

Ya, thats better. I linked the actual comment page, shouldve linked this.

...eek. I am all for net neutrality and ISPs keeping their noses out of their users decisions on products and services, but that website reeks of sales-pitchy "hey hey! Look at this! This is bad! I wouldn't lie to you right? Here's these facts. No they're totally facts. Why are our sources all sponsored by us? Well we needed to get information on the subject to prove our point, right?"

They can still see the end point.  They may not per say see your actual origin, but they can see the end point of like say Amazon, Netflix, etc.  Unless you are doing VPN from one private network to another private network.

Once again, net neutrality was just a bullshit bill that did the opposite effect of what it was supposed to do. You know, like the majority of the Obama administration.

that doesn't change the narrative they use to repeal it, they are actively trying to dismantle net neutrality protection because they think its bad. even if the bill didn't work, it was the first symbolic step to its protection even if it wasn't intended as such. not saying that it shouldn't be changed, just that their motivation for that change is wrong and that the results of that change will get us in a worse state for net neutrality than if we had kept the status quo.

Well here's the really bullshit part. ISPs will gladly claim they're Title II... for infrastructure building purposes. But when it comes to actually being an internet utility? Nope, they're not Title II.

I don't care if they get classified as one or the other, but it needs to be done across the board.

Dude, most people are paranoid dumb bitches who don't understand shit.  A CCTV camera, or a internet monitoring system sees someone watching youtube or eating a cookie, fine, nothing happens you're fine.  The CCTV camera or internet monitoring system sees someone watching child porn or raping a toddler, then that person gets caught.  If you aren't doing illegal shit you'll be fine, if you're fucking goats, you'll get caught.  It just makes the world a safer place, simple.

Honestly, I don't give a shit about net neutrality, if you're going to pirate movies, get a VPN or risk it, simple.

If you're a normal person, don't need to know anything about it and you'll be just as fine.

Are you advocating for mass surveillance? Thats not only what net neutrality is about, ISPs could force you to pay to access websites, or force the webmasters to pay so users get unthrottled connection to them.
