Corsair Dominator Platinum Memory

I just bought a set of memory last month to upgrade my computer without realizing it was DDR4 ram meant for x99 motherboards and my current motherboard is only DDR3.  I'm looking at upgrading to the Z270 MBs with a 7700k CPU, but the memory is not on the compatibility list.  Can I use the memory even though it is not specifically compatible with the MB or do I need to send the memory back and get a set that is compatible with the Z270 MB?  The memory is a Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x8gb DDR4 2133Mhz set (CMD32GX4M4B2133C10).

Thanks

DDR4 will work fine with any Z270 board.

No you have to get DDR4 for all new computers, DDR3 is dead, I personally would not go with Dominator Platinums unless you are going for a certain look, because they are way more expensive than most RAM

He's planning to build a new Z270 system with the DDR4 he inadvertently bought instead.

He's already got them, so it's either keep them, or go through the hassle of returning them and getting a new set of RAM.

DDR4 isn't meant specifically for X99 motherboards, it will work in any motherboard that is DDR4.

Even though it is not in the compatibility list on the MB manu. website?  I'm looking right now at the ASUS MBs.

The QVL list just shows you kits that are guaranteed to run at the rated speeds. Yours is 2133MHz (stock DDR4 speed), so it'll work with any DDR4 mobo.
