A "gaming" laptop with decent battery?

I've been watching and looking for a while now for a gaming-ish laptop that boasts somewhat decent battery life (4-6hours or longer on lighter loads) however it feels like the best options in terms of form factor / battery life and performance is the razer blade.

 

I was wondering if people have suggestions as to other laptops that may fit the bill to being similar or comparable to the above in both form factor and battery life - itd be ideal to have a 1060 (or even the newer MAX-Q nvidia gpus).

 

One that has caught my eye but will more than likely have very poor battery life is the sager np8952 Found here

The alienware R3 15 has a 99WH battery and easily lasts 7-9 hours with web browsing

Just keeping this here as a I don't think such a thing exists--a gaming laptop with a good battery. Strictly speaking, for typical loads, any laptop will do on battery like your basic web browsing and maybe light gaming.

 

For anything actually demanding, you're going to need to be wired to actually take advantage of the hardware you spent extra on for the privilege to even use it. Last time I was considering the gaming laptop route, I was incredibly disappointed how useless they are on battery with hardcore throttling. Kinda defeats the purpose of splurging on the specs in a laptop form factor.

 

In that case, may as well go Apple to get the battery life since you're not doing any demanding gaming anyway on battery.

Most gaming laptops aren't meant to be played for a while. If you look around, you might be able to find a decent one with a decent battery life, but first we would need to know what kind of games you're going to be playing, and if you want it to be a traveling laptop, or a home laptop. Also, why a laptop? You could buy a pretty good desktop for the same price.

Pretty much addicted to Gaming and Youtube. I think I have a problem.

The laptop is mostly for work and travel and being able to play games while stationary (e.g. at a hotel or on an airplane) I'm not expecting long battery life for demanding gaming or heavy workloads at all.

 

I am looking for something to be portable I've had bigger laptops in the past and had a bad time travelling long distances with them - looking on the lighter/thinner side now-a-days

You won't want to be using the dedicated GPU if you're on battery anyway, if you want longer battery life.  Best to find a laptop with a Mux switch or a muxless software switch to switch off the dedicated GPU.  I don't know if Alienware r3/r4 has the ability to switch to the intel iGPU.  The MSI GT73VR laptops do.  I believe the last generation GT62VR did too (not sure) but the GT72VR absolutely does not.

Inspiron 7567 has great battery life, however I think it needs to be said: Get the IPS+1050Ti+SSD model, not the base model. The base model is stuck with the original low quality TN display with poor contrast and viewing angles, in the unit in that video, which looks like this: http://imgur.com/Sajajqc.jpg

This one also only has a GTX 1050 Ti not a 1060, but it's also a lot cheaper.
