Adobe Premiere Pro CC VS Sony Vegas Pro? Which one is better and why. Looking for general opinions.

Final Cut Pro. I've never used Vega (sadly), but I have tried to use Premier, to no avail. It's immensely complicated, IMO.

Neither is really better. You can achieve the same things with both, the important thing is sticking to one as probably the most important thing is to get used to the software. If you keep switching and never stick with one, you'll never really understand how it works. 

 

That said, if you use the rest of the Adobe suite, going for Premiere may be a good idea as they tie together quite well.

Im going to be creating montages for youtube. School holidays are coming up and im interested in it and got some time on my hands. Dont worry im going to crack the software os they are both free. Just want some more educated opinions.

I think I will go for Sony Vegas as it has visual effects which might make my montages look more interesting.

I'd consider looking at DaVinci Resolve first before resorting to piracy.

Premiere is much much more powerful than Vegas. I have used just about everything and Premiere is on the top list of best to use. I do use it hand in hand with AE though which is a huge plus. To the people saying Premiere is hard, well yes, so are many powerful programs. It's optimization sucks and payng $50/month is stupid so when my school plan runs up I plan to go to Davinci and start from the beginning and re learn it. Final Cut Pro X is nice and easy to use but very limiting without plugins. Motion is great and cheap but again is lacking many things AE has

Just keeping this here as a I mean final cut is no walk in the part either. It just doesn't have nearly as many settings and things built in like mask tracking.

Yeah, it's simpler and much less overwhelming than Premier. For simple videos like I used to work on (simple recipe videos for YouTube, without complex effects and transitions), it's the best one out there. It's also a lot cheaper than Premier, only costing $300 for 6+ copies, with infinite free updates. It's also insanely well optimised, and run smoothly even on my 2012 MacBook Pro with an i5 and iGPU. It does have an SSD and 16GB RAM as well though

The only macs I have are from 2009 so the performance is getting quite slow. But it still will edit short videos with basic transition. Nothing compared to what I do in AE though
