Your RAM isn't compatible, it won't even physically fit. All the other stuff will work a-ok.

He has one of those LGA1151 DDR3/L motherboards. It would be compatible.

I don't see why it wouldn't work after a BIOS update. But using a i7-7700K with DDR3? Eh, not sure how I feel about that.

Hi guys!

I'm new to the forum and I can't find the answer to my question.

I want to build a kaby lake pc at low cost.

Current system:

CPU: Intel i5-4590

MBD: Asus B85m-g

RAM: 16GB Kingston Hyperx 1866mhz ddr3

GPU: EVGA SC GTX 1070

PSU: Cooler Master 600w 80+ bronze

SSD: Samsung 840 evo 120GB

SSD: Samsung 850 evo 250GB

HDD: Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm

CASE: Cooler Master k350

I want to change just the mobo and cpu but are my other parts compatible?

PLANNED NEW PC:

CPU: Intel i7-7700k

MBD: Asus Z170M-E D3 (BIOS UPDATED)

RAM: 16GB Kingston Hyperx 1866mhz ddr3

GPU: EVGA SC GTX 1070

PSU: Cooler Master 600w 80+ bronze

SSD: Samsung 840 evo 120GB

SSD: Samsung 850 evo 250GB

HDD: Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm

CASE: Cooler Master k350

Asus has a bios update to this z170 ddr3 board, and I can update it with my friend's processor.

But will it work?

OP, what exact psu do you have?

Also, you may want to consider getting an aftermarket CPU cooler. The 7700k doesn't come with one so you'd be reusing your i5's stock cooler which isn't a great combo with a 7700k.

They do. Skylake and Kaby Lake support both ddr4 and lpddr3, as Intel wanted to make it so laptop companies and stuff could still use DDR3 with Skylake and Kaby Lake. So at the same time it's possible to do it with the desktop CPUs.

Yea it should handle it. Maybe even a bit of OCing.

PSU seems meh. You may want to consider getting it upgraded if you have the cash, otherwise it's ok.
