Did i get scammed buying a cpu from eBay?

My core 2 quad q6600 arrived from eBay today. I put it in my pc like normal then booted it up. It booted fine but when i go to system it says i have a core 2 duo still. Anyone know why this happens? and in cpu z it says core 2 quad q6600 but then says 2 cores 2 threads???????? HELP ME! DID I GET SCAMMED!

What does it say in your BIOS?

It should tell you the model of the CPU and the number of cores.

Also, make sure you didn't put the wrong CPU in your motherboard...

I restarted my pc and now it says that i have a core 2 quad q6600 in bios and in system i think it is all fixed

i remember having this issue some time ago, upgraded a rig from an E6550 to a Q6600. it showed the Q6600 as a dual-core at first boot but showed all 4 cores after rebooting it.

You are probably fine, happened to my friend too, after several restarts it started to show Q6600.

Make sure to update your motherboard bios.
