So I have two build lists going on, same exact parts except the CPU, mobo, and ram. One has a Ryzen 5 1600, and since Ryzen's Infinity Fabric needs fast ram, I have a more expensive RAM set. In total the Ryzen set is about $30 more. Is that worth it for Ryzen?

get a better PSU.

It's CXM though. Maybe 550 but I don't see the benefit.

Yes, the Ryzen chip is faster in everything. Once overclocked, the Ryzen will probably outdo the 7600 (non - k ) in single core performance to, let alone multi-threaded.

Alright thanks! I'll go for the Ryzen build. Also another question --> the keyboard I have now is not mechanical. Is it worth it to get a mechanical keyboard now or upgrade later?

I would recommend getting a tier one or two PSU from this list.  https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/

If both are more or less the same price, a locked i5 is a horrible investment that is already at its limit.

Only i5 worth praise is the 2500k tbh

Edit: as for keyboards, a cheap <$20 will do for now if it allows something worth while in the budget like extra for a PSU.

Mechanical is awesome if you can afford it I'd do it.

Also ryzen lol.

agreed. Mechanical is amazing. Since I've started using it, using membrane keyboards bother me. I've tried Cherry Speed and Reds, and I'm not fond of them, but that's just me. I'd definitely try to find some that you can try how they feel before buying if you can.

Awesome! Yeah, I tried a Razer Keyboard and it was amazing. I think I'll go for a non-mechanical then upgrade later. I'm already over-budget
