Yup. Never heard of a better alternative. Though be sure to tweak the settings, so you don't clean out stuff you want (I set it to keep my browser history, session, download history, and to NOT empty the Recycle Bin).

I use ccleaner.

Cleans out temp files and recycle bin and cookies and stuff like that, also deletes useless registry stuff.

Has never caused any issues.

I suggest going into the settings and selecting which cookies you want to keep so that you don't have to relog into all your sites every time you run the cleaner.

I have been using it for years, makes no difference in OS X though.

There's also Spacesniffer to find folders of clutter you may have forgotten about taking up valuable drive space.

Go through and uninstall programs you don't use?

Use CCleaner, and follow up with Auslogics DiskDefrag. Just don't use DiskDefrag on a SSD!
