"Most Highend" GPU for i5-7500?

I recently sold my R9 380 (because I have no use for it as of now).

And with the recent Ryzen hype (and possibly new AMD cards later), I'd like to start my research for a new card.

 

So just right off the bat, if money wasn't an issue, would it be okay to buy a 1080 Ti for my i5-7500? ahahaha

Depends on the resolution. If 1080p, no more than a 580/1060, but for 1440p+, it wont really matter much (Unless you want high refresh rate, same problem as 1080p).

the GTX 1070 is as far as you should go and even so the video card won't reach its full potential every time, but it'll still outperform the gtx1060 and rx580 so it is valid.
