Gpu lifespan

Hey!

I was wondering what would be the lifespan of gtx 1070 evga if it runs all the time at 100% around 60degrees?

No less time than at 40 or 50 c.

You dont' know how long it will last, depends on the board. Could be a week, could be 100 years.

15 years of usage is the expected life span by Intel for their processors, I'm pretty sure nVidia GPU will last around it, however that does not include PCB, VRAM, Cooler and many other components that are responsibility of the manufacturer partner, however if it's like Asus~EVGA which are reliable enough it probably does get to 10 years.

 

I have an old GTS 8600 bought like in 2009 or something that functions as brand new.

It will. Temperature accelerates degradation.

It will last 5-15 years under regular use, which is maybe gaming load for a few hours a day.

Running it at 100% 24/7 will make it fail within a few years, even if the temps are safe.

Avoid writing in dark font, many users myself included use night theme which make the forum background dark.

 

It was fairly used, not mine level of used however intensively for desktop/gaming standard, replaced it in 2012 for a GTX 560ti which also works fine by now, but I already sold it, the 8600 is used as backup display adapter for the Ryzen build.

Less than 5 I would guess.

It's not something that has been tested, and component failure is very random so there is no exact value.

Probably yeah.

The only cards that failed in like 1 or 2 years were AMD cards that were running in the 80s and 90s, so at 60C the 1070 would probably last more than 3.

You're over worrying this, it is very much likely you'll want to get a new card in 3 years any ways, it won't fail you any time soon enough to make you actually regret the purchase.

I still have GPUs that are over 14 years old that still work. Same with CPUs. I would say 15 years with normal use and maybe 10 with heavy OCes and 5 with modded BIOS and such that is really pushing it
