I found overwatch fun for a while but the community is like cod, it sucks at low levels. BF1 on the other had has a much less toxic and anyoing community but is a little limited right now

I personally preferred Battlefield 4 to Battlefield 1, and actually really don't enjoy Battlefield 1 very much at all, but I will agree with what others have been saying and that is they are totally different styles of shooter and allot comes down to preference.

Overwatch is great though especially if you have some mates to play with

I am in the lower levels and you seriously have to work around this. Have to face their will always be a toxic guy evrey so often, even if you get the guy who is like "ughh why are you playing so and so" I've changed multiple views and believe have changed outcomes of games because of giving people confidence and hope.

Honestly, both aren't worh their pricetag. 40$ is overpriced for the amount of content they have. For me, Overwatch seemed as the biggest cashgrab. I didn't enjoy any of the OWs events besides lucioball and the hallowen, as they're uninspired and are plain fucking boring, I'll also add that they're all too short. You got 0% chances of getting even 1/4 of the legendaries or epics without spending shit ton of money. Most of  the maps aren't... fun. They feel like an experiement run instead of  something professionals worked on.

Battlefield 1 on the other side, also lacks variety in... everything for that matter. The gunplay is near dang to perfect. But it's really up to one's taste.  There are alot of game breaking bugs. Most of the maps are absurdly bad, they follow the rule of "pretty > fun". All of them end up in a cluster fuck. The worst one is definitely Suez, which is the biggest abomination I ever fucking witnessed.. Dice has no plans on changing their plans. They still charge for every shitty dlc, and with that split the playerbase. If you want to buy a BF, buy BF4 and 3, with all dlc. BF4  has slightly better maps, x40 more content. BF3 has a different gunplay and miles better maps than BF4 and sometimes better mechanics. Or you can just play BFBC2 which is the second coming of fucking christ.

If I were you, I wouldn't buy any of them. They're both still rough, and lack in content. Dice has been heading the wrong direction for a long time. So battlefront 2 is their last hope of redemption. Battlefield 1 has been already abandoned. And the dlc's are puny excuses to try and squeeze cash. Overwatch on the otherside, has alot of potential. If Blizzard will start listening to the community, The fact that they needed a whole year to fix fucking eichenwalde shows alot(The community has bitched a long time hoenstly). But it wont' die as soon as BF1, which is bassicly a small rider.

Tl;dr  - Don't buy any, both companies are dogshit. Both ignore their playerbase, both go for a cashgrab. Buy titanfall2 or wait till the new games are out lol. IF you really want on of those, buy them on a sale for 20$. That's honestly the most suited price for both.

@RoyalBeer I actually don't think either game is overpriced, although Overwatch on the surface may seem to be you have to consider the amount of balance work that goes into a game like Overwatch. Blizzards adds new heroes and new maps and when you consider the alternative of having a game with locked heroes and micro transaction I am glad they are charging for the box and allowing the player-base to play any of the heroes. You can tell that allot of time has gone into making sure that each heroes mechanics feels satisfying when executed correctly and yet still completely unique, time that is hard to quantify in terms of features. Which is why on surface it may not seem like a great value proposition.

As someone who has put many hours into Blizzard games including SC2, WoW and Overwatch I would argue they are one of the best developers that exists. They have a robust mod team that communicates on the forums. They constantly give rational as to why they have made certain decisions, many of which are determined from player feedback, compare it to a company like valve who are pretty much silent and just make changes with a lack of communication. When Blizzard release new content it is relatively bug free and of high quality. As already stated they are very good at updating their games. I don't think blizzard are perfect. The amount of micro transaction in WoW was disappointing to me as you are already paying monthly. But I do think Blizzard are one of the best developers on the market.

@Rupe I get the appeal, I let my frustration get ahead of the post a bit, apologies for that. It's very subjective, maybe because i spent thousands of hours on the battlefield series, tf2, aoe2, and others. Might made me "spoiled". But for me, both games aren't worth the price for the amount of content. I love the concept of, IF everything is op, nothing is op. And no fucking DLC. But each "event", gives you bassicly one "pve/pvp" mode, that's utter bullshit for me. I love the characters, the diversity of them. Besides zarya, her skins are boo. But it's still not enough to justify all the actions they pulled off. It's a fun game, addicting with friends. But every game can be like that with friends. The community is split, the fan creators, which include the sfm stories, comics, even porn. Are honestly amazing to put so much dedication. But the "player" side, is really... yah. Don't get me wrong, you have a high chance of meeting friends, or a few players u'd like to play with. But the rest drops after u lose 1 point.

Again, sorry for the a bit biased and rant'ish post. I'll try to hold my cool from now on. I really like OW, but I feel like i point out it's flaws, people get really upsetti spaghetti over that.

To the OP - Overwatch, but I haven't played Battlefield 1.

For me, Value is in how much $$ I spend per hour I play. I've put hundreds of hours into Overwatch over the past year, so even though I've spent money on loot boxes it still feels worth it.

--------

To respond to other posts regarding Overwatch. I think the smaller teams make the toxicity much more apparent and visceral. In larger team games, a couple people playing poorly can go unnoticed, and a couple people complaining gets drowned out. I also think OW's popularity has shot itself in the foot due to the amount of online content that people take as gospel, regardless of rank or skill level, and God help you if you make an off-meta pick.

I also disagree that Blizzard ignores its community. It takes time to make changes, but they've done a number of them based on player input - some I'd rather not have seen.

One thing that appeals to me in BF1 is the idea of huge maps and huge teams. I'd like to see a 10v10 or 12v12 mode in Overwatch with large maps that have multiple simultaneous objectives.

BF1 gets boring after 10-20 hours due to limited amounts of content and depth. I have 20 hours in BF1 and over 250 in Overwatch, i think that tells enough.
