What to do with old pc`s

So i got some old pc`s most of them i found uses like htpc nas ect.

Only i got one left and its a really small machine littlebit bigger than my spread hand.

The components inside are really low but i wanna give it a life.

 

The question is tho, what to do with it i tought of an linux ssh pc for little storage / web / vpn server.

 

Its an Compaq CQ2100NL

 

Cpu : Intel atom 230 1,6 ghz (pasive cooled) (512kb)

Ram : Ddr2 1 gb 800 Mhz (Max 2 gb upgeadable)

Storage : non can put hdd in it or usb 

Extra : Cd/ Dvd player. Multi card reader, Wifi Card.

I usually sell my stuff I don't find a use for, with enough patience, you can find someone that will buy it for a decent price

some kind of NAS or server would be the best use of this. in other scenarios i would suggest using it for Folding@Home, but i don't think this would get you much PPD :P

Looks like a thin client. Those single core atom are shitty like an old netbook. you could make

a wifi router

a honeypot

Look at the slitaz or puppy Linux distros for a silent web surfer but this thing will struggle with hd videos.

i would mention tails for anon surfing but it really needs 2gb of ram.

You might be able put an extra drive in place of the cd drive. Ask your local laptop retailer if they sell oem laptop drives from customer upgrades. That could give you two 500gb drives for cheap. Because it's fanless and has wifi you could hide it anywhere in your house to use to backup your pc.

Only selling systems that are worth buying personally dont know why someone woud by this pc.

I m folding@home on my main pc at idle this machine woudnt do a think igeuss.

So i combined all ur options and made something nice of it.

Its an ftp/nas server with basic drivers and software programs to download.

i used the wifi card as an hotspot so that you can connect to it like an repeater and acces the files.

il be using it to configer new build pc/laptops.

I sold already a few items I thought: who would buy it?

some nerd always needs a specific thing, maybe it is the exact one you have. that's why  I said with enough patience
