Hello,

 

Should I buy a 1600 or 7600k if I am just planning to use it for gaming and casual day to day tasks?

R5 has better frame times, 1% lows will crush it in anything multithreaded. 

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

1600. Performance in gaming goes to the i5 but there's several reasons to want the 1600:
2 extra cores and 8 threads is ALOT of extra power. Even if your only gaming, if your doing any tasks in the background the 1600 would be alot smoother.
1600 has better lows, smoother overall frametimes

Rumors of intel making their i7 mainstream flagship 6 cores means games will start to largely optimize for extra cores, meaning Ryzen will age well

And lastly, because fuck intel and their price gouging. Support AMD so they can crush intel and force some reasonable prices.

R5 1600. Similar average framerates with better 0.1/1% minimums... meaning better frametimes... meaning smoother gameplay. Will demolish the i5-7600K in anything highly multithreaded seeing how its a 6C/12T CPU up against a 4C/4T CPU. Comes with a decent stock cooler whereas you need to buy an aftermarket one for the i5-7600K.

If it's for casual use maybe consider an i3 or Pentium.  Along with a mid-range GPU you'll have a fair 1080p gaming system.

 

Otherwise I'd go for the 1600.

yes but IPC isn't worth much when you have 1.5x the cores and 3x the threads. Better mins>slightly better FPS ANY DAY
