Power draw on SLI-enabled config vs non-SLI?

I've always read suggestions about recommended wattages for two of the same graphics card in a build regarding them to be in SLI, which is the usual case, but rarely have I seen suggestions not mention the cards being in SLI. For reasons like 3D rendering where SLI can't be used, but multiple graphics cards can still be utilized, a non-SLI configuration would be used. What I'm wondering is, does enabling and using the SLI configuration cause the graphics cards to draw more power(watts) versus a non-SLI configuration? I've never seen it measured before and it would make sense that they would draw the same amount of power in either scenario, but I still want to know if any tests or comparisons exist.

Would still take the same amount of power. 

 

I think the term "SLI" is so ingrained at this point that we'll (the community) use it for anything that involves two GPU's even when it's erroneous to do so.

Wouldn't make any difference, they would use the same (Unless you mean in games, then one card simply wouldn't be utilised).

Depending on the load percentages it should still be the same. SLI is usually meant for graphical stuff (Games ETC) rather than processing I believe (correct me if im wrong).

If anything they will use More power not in sli because they will be used 100% by a good program unlike games which only. Use a % of the second gpu

Well the cards run st 100% in games so if another program can do that the power draw would be the same. The rest would be based off CPU draw which varies just as much.
