Assistance needed :) 1070 + ryzen 5

Hello fellow ltt-enthusiast ;),

 

i'm currently planning my first own build and could use some help :).

 

Budget: 1000€ - 1400€

I haven't yet decided on a cpu cooler.

Regarding gpu: does anyone have experience with the evga ftw hybrid, i just saw it somewhere and kinda liked the concept, is it worthwhile/ any good?

 

The choice of case isn't set in stone either, I'm open for suggestions.

 

pls keep in mind that this is my first build so dont tear me apart ;), you seam to be a nice community anyway.

Get a Ryzen 5 1600 (non-X), and it includes a cooler, and you can even get a decent OC out of it, as well as saving some $$$ to be spent somewhere else. Other than that, it's a solid build. You could probs fit a 1080 in there with that budget, which will run any games at any res up to 4K (on high settings, still playable on ultra though).

PSU price wasn't being included btw. And for the price of that 1070, you might as well get a 1080 which is the same price.

AFAIK, MSI doesn't jive well with Ryzen. I'd look for an ASRock B350 Pro4 or X370 Killer SLI.

Meh. It's not like cases break, and if he like this case, it should last him through every upgrade/new build he does until they change some standard so parts no longer fit in it.

I love MSI mobos, but I had doubts, so I started a thread about it. Pretty much everyone said MSI has problems with RAM speeds, which Ryzen needs to be at the top of it's game. ASUS is the best for Ryzen, followed by Gigabyte and ASRock (their Tiachi is a beast!). At least that's what I got from all the replies.

It's a more premium option, nothing wrong with it if you ask me. You get a nice case with more fan mounts and better fans and whatnot, that's also quieter than cheaper options. This is from someone that upgraded from a $50 case to a define s, it is kinda worth it.

If you ask me, their memory qvl list is one of the better ones.

About the case:

It's  a nice case imo, however if you guys know something with more "bang" for the bug, please go ahead

 

(i'd like the pc to be pretty quiet though, maybe not linus-quiet but still)

Because you have so much money for your build, I would probably just go with any Noctua cooler such as the DH-15 which is an air cooler that is as good or better than many water coolers. If you want to save some money for your cooler, you should probably just go with a cheaper Noctua cooler such as the dh-12s or at the least a hyper 212 evo.

Ik, for now though I'd say it's one of the better ones. Plus that means that in a while it won't even matter much.

Na it's fine. I might consider getting the R5 or Define S instead as the airflow is better but I think the premium is worth it.

There are better options than a 212 evo and there are alternatives to Noctua coolers that are just as good, plus they're ugly if you ask em

psu is about 80€ on amazon.

 

Do i need any additional case fans?

Instead of/ in addition to the wireless adapter - consider two powerline adapters, one close to the router and another near your PC (Kit comes with 2)

Wifi really isn't as stable for a proper internet experience.
