I'd get a B350 pro4 instead of the Pc mate, cheaper and just as good, if not better. a 120gb ssd won't be enough from personal experience, get a 240gb SL308 instead. not sold on the pure base 600 IMO, some p400 TGs is the same price. also I'd recommend getting a 750w PSU and sli compatible mobo for SLI in the future.

why does he need an nvme ssd anyways? a cheap sata ssd like an sl308 would have been just as good.

Isn't the Pro 4 micro atx? And my main focus is silence which is why i chose the pure base 600. And how long before a 120 is filled up?

I gave both as an option. Just personal preference and I'm not fighting a battle that everyone is biased in.

I'm referring to the atx variant. it won't hold for long, ran out of breathing room after 1.5 years for me.

Depends on your usage. If you move the USER folders to the HDD, it should last you a while, but I would recommend 240GB and higher since that's usually where performance begins to increase.

If this is just a "while vega comes out build" then buy a Freesync monitor and a RX 480 to hold you down at night till Vega comes out. ( better ssd dude )

Like ivryk sais, i dont see y u need to get a 1070 now if you are waiting for vega unless you sell it or give to a friend, i would just go for a 1060 for the mean time (rx 480s/580s are either out of stock or overpriced). If you save $100 you could go a r7 1700, but if you are gaming it doesnt really matter (or use that extra saved for a better vega GPU)

GTX 1080 is completely pointless for 2560x1080. Even the GTX 1070 is pretty overkill for that. X370 chipset isn't really required. B350 is fine. Unless he wants some extra features, like SLI support.

Is not really overkill, hell, I own one and in some games it doesnt cut it ( 1080p, looking at you Wildlands and Watch Dogs 2 with TXAA <.< ), regarding the x370, If and just IIIFFF Amd sticks to the AM4 platform ( Hope they do ) with their Zen+ and 2, might as well get the best backbone for you system, specially since they go as low as 120~130 bucks.

@op If you havent gotten the monitor yet, seriously think about adaptive refresh rate, it really makes a diff, also dont buy the 1070 if you just waiting, like what JVgaming said, get a lesser gpu and save up for "big Vega" ( if it ever comes out )

I can play Watch Dogs 2 at 2560x1080 with a single GTX 970 enabled, perfectly fine. Mostly ultra settings, a couple of things turned down a little.

A cheap X370 board wouldn't be the best though. The 'best' would be a better, more expensive X370 motherboard. It's not like he's going to have to replace his CPU for several years anyway. He should buy a motherboard based on the features he needs/wants now, and features he KNOWS he will use in the near future(if any).

Well, thats purely subjective, if for you is it, i respect your opinion, me owning one it doesnt feel overkill, specially being able to bump game's resolutions past your monitors, however if he just wants Vega, getting a 1080 or a 1070 will be dumb

With both 970s enable Txaa and see how it goes.

Yes, if you want "best", it will be imho the crosshair 6, which will be a pretty penny, however what if after Vega, he wants some Nvidia action and Sli dem ( next next gen ) gpus? He wont be able to on the b350, why buy something limiting your play choices? When for like 30 bucks ( he clearly got the extra money for that ) more you are able to widen up your build's configuration, specially if you gonna stick to it for years.

Pro4 isn't QUITE as good as the pc mate since it uses a 3 phase design compared to 4 on the pc mate, though right now the pc mate seems to cost a lot more than usual so pro4 might be a better choice ATM
