1080 Ti FE Fan at 100% speed 24/7 (on purpose)

All right guys. I'm getting a kraken g12 and an AIO for my 1080 Ti Fe.

 

In the meantime I'm using it to mine.

The mining dumpsters the Ti thermally. Gaming is fine at 1900mhz but with mining it struggles to keep above 1750mhz even with 85% fan speed before thermal throttling.

 

Has anyone run their fans at 100% for days on end? Have your fans died? How long is the expected lifetime at 100% of the stock cooler? 

 

AIO will be here in a week so I'm not worried about it dying running until then. However I am curious if anyone else runs their fans at 100%.

it should be fine, but hella loud.

fans are designed to spin at 100%. otherwise, it wouldn't be an option.

obviously it's not ideal to run it at 100% for a year, but for a week it should be no problem for your GPU, but remember to wear earplugs

Bt why are you mining on a 1080 ti at all. 1. Bitcoin isn't worth mining anymore for the power used. 2. Why are you using a nvidia card? 3. Even if you REALLY felt you NEED to bitcoin mine, why aren'y you using an ASIC?

You have been gone for awhile. Alt coins like Etheruem and Zcash are highly profitable again. a 480 makes over $6 a day and a 1080ti makes much more than that. Also bitcoins are worth over $2300

@BuckGup I've been gone for quite a while. I recently just heard that BTC mining is popular again. But how can that be? Last I known ASIC has completely crushed GPUs in mining and other crypto currencies like Ziftercoin as been pretty much gone. That being said I do have a r9 390 that I can use to mine, is it actually worth it?

Because some alt coins like ETH is GPGPU exclusive and recent surge in in BTC value make them really popular again.

No bitcoin mining only profitable with cheap energy and efficient ASICs like the A9 and T9 from ant miner. What everyone else is doing is mining alt coins. Most that are popular are ASIC proof so that means the difficulty stays fairly low so any random joe can mine it and make a profit. Look at this for the most profitable

Can I ask why would you not buy an EVGA Hybrid kit for the FE version ??????

I was wondering the same thing for the same reason. I'm saving for a custom loop, the 1080 ti fe set me back so it might be a while, it'll probably take me a few months realistically to get the loop pieced together. Anyway I also wonder if running the fan at100 percent is going to cause degredation to the fan, but I guess I really shouldn't worry about them in the grand scheme of things... 

 

I've been using EVGA's Xoc software to set the power/temp target @ 80%/76c (it sits at about 60c while mining)  mainly in an attempt to reduce the strain on my gpu (at least until I can get some liquid on it).

 

On a side note I'm not doing the custom loop for mining performance, I'm doing it because it's awesome.
