I would rather have a faster CPU and a more potato Gpu. The Computer is Useless if it locks up when you are trying to multi task.

For gaming, the 1st. I have the 6100 and it works perfectly for games and even some light video editing. If you do a lot of professional stuff, the 2nd. That CPU has much better multitasking.

My i3 has never locked up on me. Intel's i3 series, in contrast to their laptop series, is actually pretty good.

Neither of these CPUs are going to lock up on him unless he forgets to mount the CPU cooler all the way and they thermal throttle lol
