Input on budget build

If you want a decent Intel build, this may not be a terrible way to go. Like what has been said, sticking to $600 without buying anything used is a bit difficult to do.

that build may have been okay 4 years ago, but keyword "4 years ago". it's not good at all in 2017 where the G4560 is similarly priced but destroys the athlon for gaming. also, the gtx 750ti is old now, not a good gaming gpu anymore.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Being fair, I wasn't insulting your build, I was being honest.  I only attempted to show you what would probably be better for your money. (granted I'd probably go with the Seasonic PSU @herman mcpootis mentioned)...

Wasn't necessarily talking about you. You just said it wasn't the greatest. Shit like garbage and shitty architecture comments were a little pointed from other people tho

I mean, being fair, the 750 Ti is still quite capable... but only buy it used, don't buy it new.  Cause if you buy new, so many better options exist now.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

RX470 much better value though, just like the R9 270 competing with the 750Ti (at least here in Canada)

fx6500k? never heard of it. so are you getting a new build or just an upgrade will do? for $600 i'd rather reuse as much as possible.

yeah, but remember it's more expensive, not everyone can spend the extra on a 470 especially at this price bracket.

Slightly.

But if you can afford the tiny bit, I would highly recommend the upgrade over something like a CPU upgrade.

$30 difference isn't exactly 'a tiny bit' when you're getting a lower-end 1050ti.

Seriously a pet peeve of mine when people suggest single channel RAM with Ryzen... I'm not sure the exact percentage but I know for a fact that you will get better performance out of Ryzen with dual channel RAM... It's probably about the same as going from 2133 to 2400...

1% in cpu demanding stuff

perfrel_cpu.png

and at most 4-5% in gaming

perfrel_1920_1080.png

if you can find RAM sticks for 5% less with higher speed (50*105%=%52.5) then it's worth it

else no

Just keep in mind that everything computers usually runs on an 18 month cycle.  When the AM3 CPUs (i.e. FX-6300 and etc) came out, Intel had Sandy Bridge.  That was 6 years ago.

Since then Intel has pushed out Ivy Bridge, Haswell, Skylake and Kaby Lake - that's not even counting Devil's Canyon or the aborted Broadwell.

AMD has pushed out Ryzen.

Nvidia was on the 600 series GPUs.  They pushed out 700 series, skipped 800 series, and pushed 900 and now 1000 series.

AMD was on the 7000 series.  They pushed out the 200 series, 300 series, 400 series and 500 series since then

If you come into the computer world with 4 year old knowledge, it's ALWAYS going to be obsolete knowledge and you will NEED to re-learn.

And that's fine - Read Tom's Hardware articles to get a general idea of the CPU/GPU market.  Watch LTT, Paul's Hardware, Bitwit and Level1Techs.  Research.

Or the way you did it is fine - come on here and ask.  But leave your pride at the door when you bring 4 year old knowledge into the tech world.
