now you can compromise with dual core hyper-threaded, which is not recommended for newest games that started to use more than 4 cores... If you're hurry, get second handed parts like @nerdslayer1 said, otherwise you wont going to have good parts for that price.

i... wha... dude. this is a thread about a guy wanting a $400 AMD PC... if he want a $400 PC, with an AMD CPU and GPU, its going to be shit. the best he could do would be an FX 8350 and maybe some lower end GPU thats not bottlenecked. the R5 chips eat almost the entire budget to begin with, and then you still need RAM, sotorage, a GPU and motherboard, which WILL NOT come under whatever you didnt spend on your CPU unless its basically shit teir. ofc R5 and R7 are good, i never claimed they were bad, i just said that in the context of the post if he uses any AMD CPU its going to turn out a shitty PC. look at the context next time maybe?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.

Follow these simple rules in life, and I promise you, things magically get easier. " - MageTank 31-10-2016

4GB of RAM is enough for a very basic word processing machine, but that's about it.

A lot of those take up most of his budget. So. Dno what you're thinking.

I did put single stick of 4gb in case OP wants to upgrade to 8gb. Getting a 8gb would go over budget by 6 dollars.

I have an iGPu Pentium with 3gb ram and could run some old game and cs go at low with playable frame rate. But you got a point

Guys please do some research and don't think "Ryzen is better than FX and Apus and that FX and A-series cpus are total crap." DO SOME RESEARCH PLEASE.

I would suggest you to DO SOME RESEARCH YOURSELF because Ryzen is better than both the FX and the A series. It's muuuch faster in single cores, much more efficent and much cooler.
