Backplate for 1080 Ti?

Hunter-97-G

Hello,

I have a Gaming OC GTX 1080 Ti from Gigabyte, and it has no backplate, so now that I almost have completely paid for the card I'd like to fix that. But the thing is, many aftermarket backplates are made for watercooling and that's not something I'm planning (not worth it).

Would something like this work? It's for Titan X Pascal, I know, but they're essentially the same exact card and the white colour scheme would complement the card beautifully. But I can see the holes for watercooling on the pictures. Is it specifically made for watercooling or can I put it in just like that?

If you don't mind me asking: Why do you need a backplate?

It does not really help much with temperatures... So is it just for looks?

Yeah, just for looks, I know it doesn do shit, but other than looks I like the rigidity it adds so when I take it out i don't have a chance to cut my fingers.
